There are many universes among the multiverse, and the two travelers were about to visit the next. The dire wolf, Mak, and the dragon, Cel, had just finished a wonderful tour of Westeros. The tail end of the adventure had been a bit of a disappointment. Still, that particular tour exemplified the quote, "It's not the destination, it's the journey," and they would never forget their time spent there.
Cel, the time dragon, had prepared his spell to take them to the next universe. This one was an old favorite of Cel's, the world of Arda in Eä, a universe where magic was less flashy than most and there was one Authority to answer to, Eru Ilúvatar.
Unlike the faded gods of Westeros whose powers were thin and divided, Ilúvatar held full control of Eä, and only by his grace were they permitted entry. A man decorates his home to show off to guests, after all, and not even a god could turn down a visit from outsiders to show off his creations.
Like the Istari, the pair would be restricted from using their powers or appearing as anything but plain men or elves to the Children of Ilúvatar, at least in their foot travels. Cel had asked Gwaihir, Lord of the Eagles for permission to fly along the mountain ranges of Arda, particularly the White Mountains to view the legendary Beacons of Gondor, and they were granted by Manwë, although they were ever watched by the Great Eagles to ensure they did not deviate from the rules of Ilúvatar. In this form they would appear as a rider atop a giant eagle as well, and not even the Eye of Sauron could pierce this veil.
And so they flew from the majestic city of Minas Tirith to the regal Golden Hall of Meduseld over the beacons' path. While they flew, Cel recounted how in the early days of Arda, how the battles between the Valar and Melkor shaped the world and likely formed the mountains beneath them, how there had been an evil dragon named Ancalagon who was so large that his defeat by Eärendil crushed an entire mountain range, how the magnificent sun was but a fruit of one of the Two Trees that had lit the world before they were swallowed into darkness by Ungoliant, and so on and so on. Mak didn't understand most of it, but called his dragon a nerd with every detailed explanation, which he knew the dragon loved being called.

Of all the times to visit Arda, why the Third Age? You could have seen Gondolin at its height or Numenor before the fall. You could have met Earendil, Thingol, Tuor and the other great heroes of that age like High King Fingolfin. You could have flown with Thorondor against Ancalagon the Black.
For your next destination I would offer Valdemar or Alagaesia. Maybe even Pern.
