A few months had passed since Trey (1) left Fitalia to go back to his own world.
A few months since Dragaux was brought back to reason.
The first months had been tense. Even though everyone was willing to forgive the dragon since he wasn't fully himself, all this time being more or less the avatar of the Dark Influence still left a mark on him. He was still excessively driven, agressive...
But as the months passed, these points, while they'd probably never fully leave, weakened and Dragaux became closer to his old self.
When Ring caught him napping like he used to, the sentient artifact was hugely relieved. It was an excellent sign.

One day, Ring came extremely excited.
A new temple had been discovered.
It was something Ring barely touched on during the runs with Trey, even the for fun ones: there were a bit everywhere in Fitalia old temples, dating from an ancient civilization, far in the past.
That another one had been found wasn't what was exciting Ring like that.
It was the picture he brought.
A picture of an engraving on the wall of the temple's main chamber.
"But... That's us!" exclaimed in shock Dragaux.
And indeed, the engraving showed two silhouettes that were clearly Dragaux's and Ring's.
"How?!"
Ring had no answer, and the question gnawed away at Dragaux until he went to sleep.
But even then, it kept gnawing at him, for he dreamt he was in the temple, facing the engraving.
He dreamt that he pressed a precise series of points of the engraving, triggering a secret door.
He dreamt that beyond the door lied two stairs, going up and down.
He dreamt that he went down.
He dreamt that he found a source down under.
He dreamt that he drank this water.
And then he woke up.
