Challenge #2 for Windsonde of dA!
Prompt: It is the Queen's custom to give a speech to all of the young gryphs before they are promoted to adults, and the old bat does drone on. Attend the ceremony or find some way to weasel out of it.
My response: Being naturally curious, Daine decided to stay and listen to the Queen. Also being naturally bored easily, she decided that wasn't a very good idea after the first 20 minutes.

OMG I'M GOING TO POST THE STORY NOW INSTEAD OF WAITING :o

This was the big day-she was going to become an adult. Dain spent a whole hour preening her feathers, making sure to puck out the last remnants of her downy feathers. Actually she would have loved another hour, but her mother got impatient and booted her out, telling her to find a good place to listen to the queen.
Huffing as she made her way there, Daine almost passed the fluffy pillows where the queen would sit. Backtracking, she settled upon sitting in front of a huge (at least in Daine's perspective) grey tiger gryphon.

She couldn't help the shiver of thrill when the queen sauntered over to her pillows and started her speech.

But that thrill wasn't for too long- but the speech was.

She couldn't help but fidget after 5 minutes of the droning voice. At 10 minutes, she got out some string and a rock to keep her busy. At 20, even making jewelry was not enough to keep her boredom at bay. Throwing her head back, she made the faces of despair, pleading to any god that was listening to please make it stop.

Daine's prayers were not answered as it went on for another hour.
