I honestly just use those heights as a "Base line" or the smallest, or even "Average"
mostly smallest, cuz I feel like most Charizards are taller, in the anime and also typically with Furries.

On the plus side Charizard has a Gigantamax form and Feraligatr doesn't. In fact, Charizard makes the bottom of the top ten of biggest Gigantamax pokemon in the official pokedex. (For now, at least) At a whooping slightly over 90 feet tall.

So, stop taking his shit, go Gigantamax, stomp him into the ground, and remind him that even after 100 sequels of pokemon, gen one starters will always be king and constantly updated for relevance.
