“Life is like a game, there are many players. If you don’t play with them, they’ll play with you.”
As she looked at herself in the mirror, Whisper was filled with an overwhelming sense of dread, disgust, and pity- the latter emotion, not for herself, but for the last set of players that lost their lives in the previous game. Those poor fools never saw it coming.
They fell to their doom playing a game of Hide and Seek. They [the players] should have known better at this point, yet here they were.
What scared her the most was not the deaths, bloodshed, or even the looks in the players eyes when they knew death was coming.
It was the realization that she was becoming numb to the players piteous cries and pleas to spare their lives- she wasn’t sure if that was good or bad thing and yet…
With only 148 players left, she sighed and picked up that accursed black mask. Here, her only identity was a shape signifying her rank, and a number. It was a blessing and a curse. A curse that she was responsible for the deaths of so many people, most of which were only here because they had fallen on bad times and had no other options.
A blessing in that she got to kill without repercussions- wrong? Perhaps. So why was she so…elated at the thought of the next game?
A far too cheerful, bubbly female voice chimed in overhead signaling all staff to report to their stations. The next "game" was starting soon.
(To be continued)
What, y’all did not know Whisper was a part of the Squid Game? I mean the guards did wear masks and no one knew who was behind them. I can promise you this much- she certainly wouldn't be a player in that game! She (nor myself) are that stupid! Haha.
Yes, I am a HUGE fan of Squid Game and have no shame in admitting I enjoyed the series and am hoping there will be a continuation of the storyline. For those that did watch the show, yes, I used a bit of artistic freedom in the description to avoid any spoilers and to vary things up a bit.
