Upon these pages, what is written,
Shall manifest within a realm that is hidden.
When these pages glow with power,
The hidden reality will bloom like a flower.
Boundaries between what is false and real,
Shall weaken at the seams and start to peel.
From pages to plane, and plane to pages,
All may cross through the ages.
Should this book ever come to harm,
To ash it will fall, to one’s alarm;
Restored inside the realm within itself.
Unharmed, unaltered, to return in good health.

This artifact of unknown power and origin is clad in metal and leather. It is an anomaly. It doesn't exist, and yet it does. Always on Patch's person, no matter what, this artifact has reality altering power that manifests at the stroke of a pen.

Gemstones with runic inscriptions are embedded upon it's cover and straps, gemstones that glow with power when called upon by the artifact.
It's corner gears rotate impossibly as the center clock moves.
And it's centerpiece: The Mother's Compass. A strange artifact that moves of it's own accord. The arms rotate and slide, aligning it's clear gemstones to the shifting background before alighting. When aligned, the centermost gemstone alights with power.
