Is this click bait? Maybe. But I DID have to get the rabies vaccines this summer.

It became a running joke of 2021 that i got rabies and everyone kept making foaming at the mouth jokes about me

No, I didn't try to pet something I shouldn't

I was house sitting in Washington and a bat was flying around in the room where I sleep. I thought it was a moth so i kept swatting it. The friends I was house sitting for had just returned and saw the bat and freaked out. One of them caught it in a net and let it outside

That night I noticed I had some bug bites on my feet. But my paranoid-OCD-anxiety ridden brain kept saying "ok but what if it's a bat bite"

So just to be safe I went to urgent care to confirm it was a bug bite. They didn't even look at the bite. They said "if there was a bat in the room where you sleep, and you didn't see it come in, then you have to get treated for rabies. Sorry"

Growing up, I always heard horror stories of getting rabies shots, like you had to get 20 giant painful shots in your stomach

Idk if that was ever true, but if so, the technology has really improved cuz they were painless and in the arm. They were also hot pink, like Sweettart. And yes, I had my friend film me getting the first rabies shots

I think there were 6 shots total. 5 for rabies and one was a antibiotic or something (don't quote me on that)

Whole the shots themselves were fine, getting the shots was a huge pain cuz I had to get the first 3 in Washington and the rest in Anchorage. And in Anchorage the only place you can get them is the ER and you can't make an appointment. And it was all clogged up with unvaccinated covid people so I had to wait hours and hours just for that one shot. I also saw some weird shit in the back of the hospital but this story is getting too long already lmao

So yeah that's how I "got rabies". Realistically I probably didn't even come close to getting rabies. But we've all read Cujo. Better safe than sorry!

And WHAT AN EXPERIENCE

Rabies is no joke you guys get your pets vaccinated and shit and go to the ER if bitten by a strange animal. What a horrible way to go. Hope this drawing isn't insensitive
