Been wanting to reveal my headcanon voice for Gaster for quite some time now but rather than just simply saying what it was in a status update or journal, I felt that I should do something creative and funny, hence why I made this silly thing. XD
Anyways, if you haven’t already figured it out, my headcanon voice for Gaster is the amazingly talented J.K. Simmons and what I have here is a collage of several photos of characters he’s portrayed (and one photo of him as himself) with Gaster’s head (and Sans’s head in two pics) on their bodies. Think of it as a sort of tribute to Mr. Simmons himself as well as a fun and creative way to reveal my headcanon voice for Gaster. Fun fact: Around the time I started writing stories; J.K. Simmons was the first person I had in mind for my official headcanon voice for Gaster but then actors like James Spader, Josh Brolin, and James Cromwell kind of made me question my decision. But with every passing year, I never ruled out Mr. Simmons and after nearly five years of writing stories and tons of thought, I can now say that J.K. Simmons is my official headcanon voice for Gaster! Yay! :D Now that’s three characters I have official headcanon voices for (Asriel and Burgerpants are the other two)! :)
Now as for the photos themselves, you probably noticed a bunch of phrases written in Wingdings. Some of you probably translated them already but most of you are probably scratching your heads wondering what hell they’re saying. Lol XD And if that is the case, worry not! I will translate them for you and also talk about each of the pics I’ve chosen for this collage as well as why I chose them. As for the order, I will be rotating clockwise starting with the pic in the top left.
Top left pic: Invincible! You may have heard of it. But if not, you’re probably aware of that “Think, Mark, think!” meme. Or in this case, “THINK, SANS, THINK!” XD And of course Gaster is Omni-Man and Sans is *insert Invincible title card and theme here along with a splash of blood XD* (anyone that’s seen the show will get that joke XD). Say, remember the battles from “W.D. Gaster, the Ultimate Tickle Master?” Gaster “annihilating” everyone that tried to tickle him? Pretty similar to that shocking battle at the end of the first episode of Invincible, don’t you think? Except nobody gets hurt severely or dies in the battles in my story. But it’s similar to the fight in the show in the sense that it’s one OP as f*** man vs several lesser opponents.
To the right of the Invincible pic is Cave Johnson from Portal 2. Cave and Gaster are both devoted to science and are deceased and/or missing during the events of their respective games. And in Wingdings, it simply says, “Lemons”. If you’ve played Portal 2, then you know what I’m talking about. Yep, no need to say any more than that. XD
(Before I move on to the next pic, I would like to say that in the upper right corner; the Wingdings translate to, “J.K. Simmons as W.D. Gaster” Nothing else, just that.)
Ok, then to the right of Cave Johnson is a picture of Terence Fletcher, the cruel musical instructor from the 2014 film, Whiplash. Remember when Gaster pretended to be a jerk in “A Humerus Sleepover (Chapter 5)?” Well, this is the essentially the character that Gaster was acting like and believe it or not, at the time of writing “A Humerus Sleepover,” I envisioned an angry J.K. Simmons but I was completely unaware of his Fletcher character’s existence! And for those that don’t know, J.K. Simmons actually won an Oscar for his portrayal of this character; an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor to be exact! And in Wingdings, it says, “NOT QUITE MY TEMPO” Probably Fletcher’s most famous line in the movie along with, “There are no two words in the English language more harmful than “good job.””
Then below Fletcher, we have Ford Pines from Gravity Falls, one of my favorite animated shows of all time and one I’ve actually referenced in a few of my stories. Ford and Gaster are both scientists with rather unique pairs of hands; Ford with 6 fingers on each hand and Gaster with holes in his hands. And they were both trapped in voids too! But perhaps the most important thing I should mention here is that Ford was kind of my primary inspiration for Gaster’s personality in my stories. Gaster’s kind-hearted behavior towards children and love of role-playing games for example, very similar to Ford! :) Also, that Z.G. JDVWHU is a cipher. Decode it and it says, “W.D. GASTER”
Then in the lower-right corner is Tenzin from the Legend of Korra. Now, I’m going to be honest. I haven’t seen a single episode of The Legend of Korra (I’ll get around to it eventually, I promise). But from what I can tell, Tenzin’s a good and wise kind-hearted man and anyone that’s read my stories will know that that’s what I view Gaster as. A good and wise kind-hearted man, not a villain.
Then to the left of Tenzin is a pic of J.K. Simmons as himself lifting weights and getting buff irl! XD Why did I include this pic in the collage and put Gaster’s head on J.K.’s body? Simple, I did it because I thought it would be funny. XD No other reason, just that. Lol
Then to the left of buff J.K. Simmons is the Farmers Insurance man. You know, that man from the commercials with that jingle, “We are farmers, bum ba dum bum bum bum bum.” I hate to say it but if you haven’t seen at least one of these commercials, then you’re living under a rock. Anyways, in wingdings, it says, “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two.” You can’t miss it. Mr. Simmons says it at the end of every commercial, right before the famous jingle. ;)
Then to the left of Farmers Insurance is the yellow M&M with a Gaster makeover. Lol XD And the white symbol on his lower body is the Wingding symbol for a lowercase M. “m” But wait, doesn’t the yellow M&M sound different compared to all of the other characters in this collage? Why, yes, he does. But I chose him anyway because I can picture Gaster sounding like him when talking to children in a silly voice. XD
Then to the left to the yellow M&M is a collection of pics of J. Jonah Jameson and Peter Parker from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. Gaster is JJJ and Sans is Peter Parker. XD And by the looks of it, Gaster finds it “humerus” that Sans asked him to pay him in advance. XD Had to choose that scene from Spider-Man 2 over something like, “Get me pictures of Spider-Man!” I just had to! And I believe the heads I chose are just perfect! Lol XD Anyways, in wingdings, in the third pic, it says, “*WHEEZE* HAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” And in the fourth pic, it says, “YOU SERIOUS?”
And then last but not least, in the center is Howard Silk Prime and Howard Silk from a show called, “Counterpart.” I am only three episodes into this show but in a nutshell, it’s a show where it is possible for people to travel between two universes and interact with their other selves. In most cases, their other selves have different personalities and occupations than them. For example, Howard Silk, the protagonist of the show, is a friendly man that lacks combat skills (at least at first, I’m assuming) and he’s basically been at square one at the place he works for years. But Howard Silk Prime, his other self, on the other hand is kind of a jerk (has a “tired of your crap” personality) but is heavily experienced in combat and has had several promotions over the years. Does any of this make sense? If not, imagine this: imagine if it was possible for the Undertale characters to interact with their Deltarune counterparts. Royal Scientist Alphys interacting with school teacher Alphys, Royal Guard Captain Undyne interacting with cop Undyne, King Asgore interacting with flower store manager Asgore, that sort of deal.
And there you have it, folks! :) Maybe you laughed when you saw this collage of photos, maybe you got a minor chuckle out of it, or maybe you felt indifferent about it. Well, whatever the case is, thanks for viewing. :) And if you’re reading this, thank you for taking the time to read everything I had to say. :)
