As Shadow calmed down Maria ran up to him. He sat back as she fretted over all the claw mark and bruises on him from the fight with the bear. He barely gave them any notice. As she was focused on the slash along his arm he inspected her for any injuries, only noticing the tatter in her cloak.
As Maria took off the small apron on her skirt to clean the wound on Shadow's arm she was startled by him suddenly wrapping both large arms around her and pulling her against him.
"S...Shadow?"
She was confused as he held her close, his arms almost seemed to tremble a bit around her. Resting his snout on top of her head as she looked up at him. He nuzzled the top of her head lightly a few times before letting out a deep graveled 'safe', keeping her held in his arms. Had been worried he hadn't come in time, but she was thankfully unharmed and safe now.
