Some bands I listen to the regular are Blind melon, Audio slave, Live, Temple of the dogs, Sound garden. Yeah yeah I know... Its a lot of grunge 😬 but hey, its fun to listen to and it's not too distracting when doing work becouse of its "laid back" feel.

I was a little perplexed, knowing you like Mike Oldfield but never having listened to Jethro Tull. The lead singer and flautist is like, literally Scottish! You'd think your eardrums would have been pounded by the stuff back when you lived in the old country.

Anyway. Here's some more stuff I'd recommend in the progressive rock and related genres.

HARMONIUM: Quebecoise French group, and incredibly relaxing. So soft it's like a pillow made love to a marshmallow.
OZRIC TENTACLES: Lots of synthy instrumental stuff. Good on its own, better when under the influence of a certain leafy green plant. Highlight: Feng Shui.
ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA: Good natured, shiny happy progressive rock, taking some cues from The Beatles. The Time album is worth a listen.
KING CRIMSON: Careful, at this early stage in your development, it could turn you into an EVIL scientist! Rather the opposite of ELO. Try the Red and Lark's Tongue albums if you're feeling up to it.
RENAISSANCE: Heavenly singing by Annie Haslam and evocative, emotional songs. Scheherazade and Other Stories is the album you want.
