The Story
“Here we are. Get yourself ready, twirl girl.” Wolf nudged Sakura forward as they came close to the Ice Pavilion’s entrance. The former one seemed amused, while the puma girl looked jumpy and nervous.
“Don’t call me that.” She complained in a faint voice. Wolf shook her head.
“Eh, don’t take it the wrong way. Anyone who can do all those twirls in that kind of dress is worthy of my appreciation. What will your song be, anyway?”
“Viva La Gloria, by Green Day. And I do feel silly with this kind of clothing on. In the trains we didn’t have to wear this.” Sakura muttered, twisting the skirt’s fabric between her thumbs. She was wearing a shiny, purple spaghetti-strap body, translucent leggings and a lilac tulle skirt. Her brown hair was styled as usual, or maybe a little neater, and she wore the accessories she never took off: the loose bow around her tail, the cherry blossom pendant, and the two earrings on her left ear. Her mismatched eyes, one silver and the other gold, shone in the same mixture of fear and anticipation.
“Um…” Dinalaer cleared his throat, turning scarlet, but forced himself to finish off. “You look very pretty to me.”
Sakura left out a nervous giggle, and Wolf snickered. “C’mon, guys.” She said. “Go get your skates” she told Sakura. “You, moron. Get the camera.” She dug her elbow on Dinalaer ribs, and the male wolf growled in pain.
“It’s already here.” He muttered, rubbing the sore spot.
“Hey, what’s that for?” Sakura, who had just returned with a pair of ice skates in her hand, looked at the camera in a distrustful way. She didn’t particularly like photos. Dinalaer chuckled.
“Of course, when you fall I’ll be there to catch... your photo.”
Wolf punched his shoulder, and Sakura growled faintly, her ears pressed flat against her head in a half-pretended anger. Yet she was trying hard to hide a smile.
“Oh, shut up and wish me luck.”
“Smile for the camera, then!”
