This piece is a few months old by now, but I felt like posting it anyways.
This one features my lovely clown character, Haven, throwing some crumbs and leftover seed to an unsuspecting pigeon. Little does the poor fowl know that it is being preyed upon by Harbinger, Haven's familiar. Harbinger is a Coldfire Raven.
These familiars can bless their host with the power to shapeshift, however bind them to the raven's constant sense of foreboding starvation as well.
Coldfire Ravens are similar to Phoenixes, only, they don't really die and come back. They've already died once, but are now immortal, and wield the power of fire and decay, even creating a semblance of illusion magic in some cases. These recently deceased ravens may decide to haunt the forest or farmhouse in which they met their unfortunate end, literally pulling threads to ensure accidents occur, such as opening a sack of grain, or pulling the hairs of an agitated cow until it kicks the farmer milking it. Otherwise, these creatures are actually seen as a good omen. Due to their eternally peckish nature, they generally lead the few who manage to lay eyes on them to a bounty of food... usually. Just be sure you're actually hungry when you decide to follow them, or else it could mean YOU are the cold raven's next meal.
