Drifting, slow and lifeless, the ship intruded into the SOI of the colony. Central quickly forbade any search and rescue attempts, though rumor had it a few salvage crews had left to perform preliminary surveys. Once word broke out that the ship's warp core had breached, the public cried out for the wreck's immediate shunting away from the planet.

Visible now from the surface, the core-failure was obvious. Vast swaths of misaligned matter hung in the sky, stretched and contorted into strings and fibers of unknown termination. Near each ‘tip’, infinitely thin strands of exotic matter extended in new and wrong axes. Had the crew survived the intense radiation the rupture, contact with any of the debris would have spurred arduous, contagious, and terminal effects. It was decided that the wreck should be quarantined and left untouched.

All calculations point to non-capture, with an apoapsis significantly safe from atmospheric contact. Vocal groups still cry out for direct action to redirect. The husk drifts closer.
