for those who want to know more about longtails:
given the male example above i would like to mention one thing. Longtails have winter pelts just as regular wolves and usually they don't change color much, just grow a bit puffier, but if a longtail has been living for a long time in a cold climate, they might make their winter coat permanent. their fur becomes more soft in touch, more hair-like and is overall a bit thicker. However, this does not usually include long-fur. Long-fur (cheeks, neck and tail) is of different structure than the rest of the body covering. It's very sleek and silky in touch, very rarely something can get stuck in it and it always gives a bit of a shine. However, if a young longtails would grow much puffier neck fur - for example as the cold breeze male above - before the colors appear, then the long-fur is also affected.
Why the extreme horn pattern?
Yes, they are still horns and not antlers. Longtails are born pretty bleak and they rely on their closest environment a lot when growing up. It's where they find the colors that will become theirs for life or other features that would help them survive. If a longtail pup was being brought up in a herd of reindeer or could observe them for a long time, it could affect the horn growth, depending on one's personality. As much as most of the unusual growth patterns are very personal to each longtail, they are made mostly unconscious. Extremely rare features are a sign of strong personality.
