I wrap up my current presentation of classic drawings from the past, with this full-page illustration from a 1992 issue of the 'funny animal' APAzine "Rowrbrazzle".
The following 'retro gag' might go over the heads of some of the younger "Fur Affinity" members, as many of them weren't even born when the two advertising icons on the left were quite popular during the 1980s and early 1990s. 'Joe Camel' was a regular staple of print ads for cigarettes, and 'Spuds MacKenzie' was the canine spokesmorph on TV for beer...
So, 'Rob Cat' is quite suspicious as this duo pose as potential babysitters for his niece 'Cora'...

Oh, yes! I'd seen those Winston commercials with The Flintstones... both on YouTube and in prime-time, when I watched the show on ABC-TV back in the 1960s.
Meanwhile, I'd recently heard an interview (on NPR) with the author of a children's book entitled (I think), "Why Daddy Drinks Beer"! (I kid you not!)

Ha. I am old enough to remember both of these guys vaguely and i would not wanting them watching my Nieces. I also recently had dreams of this situation, but it was mostly Video game characters that showed up, along with king Leonidies ( Spartan king from 300 ) and zombie Micheal Jackson.
I finaly left them in the care of Fox McCloud and Cortana.
