Neat. I haven't seen any this year. It's been very dry here. The last time I tried taking pictures of them last year I got swarmed by killer mosquitoes. =0.0=

these were near a stream and luckily i had not gotten swarmed. except by angry naked people...

I had spotted a huge patch of them in the Vernooy Kill, which was very, very wet last summer. Unfortunately that and the lack of bats from white nose syndrome also encouraged massive numbers of mosquitoes in the area. Whenever I tried to hold still to take a photo clouds of them would descend on me. There were no naked people in sight. If there were, they'd have been swarmed even worse. It is an area where people swim but usually with soggy swimsuits. *bleh* Not that I haven't gone swimming there without anything. =^.^=

Growing up I used to see indian pipes all the time. Not so much now living in a more upland area but they're still out there hiding under the ground waiting to surprise you when they decide to flower.
