This is what happens when you "defeat" a vial. When vials are injured or near death, they go into a secondary form called standby. The vial focuses what remaining energy they have inward in an attempt to keep themselves alive. They become too weak to protect themselves, and often times be too overwhelmed by emotion- staying in place and quietly crying until they fade away, unless they are found and held by another living thing. They cling to them weakly, and will heal over time returning to their original strength with enough sleep, warmth, and physical contact.
Their body suddenly condenses and they become defenseless. They cannot summon their weapon, whatever cloak they have becomes an simple dress and is sown to their body and cannot be removed. Their horns shrink and they resemble the form they take when they are first created.
It's interesting to know that the personality and the environment they are raised in is what determines the unique physicals traits as well as color of the vial. Dial grew up in the dark, alone, unable to control a monstrous power- which is why she now has her dark hue and immense stature.
Also worth mentioning during standby, if you hold them and help them heal there is a chance of developing a bond with the vial, and they will be exceptionally affectionate when they return to full strength, and eager to repay your kindness in more ways than one

I adore the emotion you show in Headache. Not just in the expression, but the body language, too, and the way Dial is clinging to her. I really like the whole concept of this, too, especially with what you've talked about with how their nurture helps determine their physical nature. I really really like that. And I love the idea of them healing through touch, affection, contact: they're such destructive forces, but they require some sort of affection, bonding, to actually heal. It's a beautiful juxtaposition.
