Finally got this one finished! I started a completely different version of this years ago when I did the other two of my OC's as centaurs and just now actually did up a version that I like. Who knew a hippocampus centaur would be so hard?? @_@
I made Mioko here aquatic just because it suits her backstory - her abilities come from the god of the sea on her world (whos name eludes me, she's a really old character!) and in the story she was in, she'd turn into a mermaid if she wasn't wearing the necklace she has on in the picture. She had to sacrifice her humanity to save her little brother's life or something, I should REALLY re-read that story* some day. I should also really have drawn her so that both eyes were visible because they're different colours, but I liked the pose too much.
I was thinking of a Tennasee Walking Horse with her colouring, but really any breed could be black with a white sock, and besides which how do you show a trait of a land horse on a hippocampus? No horsey face, no tail, only two legs and those are warped for swimming anyway....okay I'm done. I'm LOVING the shading on her skin, and her transparent fins, and that this piece was my excuse to go out and buy new markers. *pleased purr*
Done with Pro Markers. Yay markers!
Mioko © to me.
*story in question was written by
mialythila and myself the summer before I started high school. It is our largest joint project, and likely holds some kind of world record for inconsistant tenses, poor grammar and misspellings. Two lasting bits of good came from it though - a cast of characters I still rather like, and that I will never again forget how to spell the word 'naive'.
