This is one of the many neighbors that live in/around my dorm. Yes, the black widow, worlds second most poisonous spider in the world. And she has friends. People next door saw a brown recluse in their bathroom. We even had a snake in one of the rooms. By the way, should you stop hearing from me for a very long time, its not because I hate you its just because I will be busy. Being dead! heres hoping I survive the night!

Don't worry to much, they say if you are bitten by a black widow to seek medical attention if symptoms persist. The spider you need to worry about is the "brown spider", if bitten medical attention is required as soon as possible. The reason being is that the venom breaks down muscle and fat, causing possible loss of small limbs (finger, toe,etc ) if gone untreated. I believe they only live in British Columbia, but could be wrong.
you referring to the brown recluse spiders? cause those live all over the midwest and a good portion of the other US as well, and form necrotic ulcers that... yeah can force amputation of the bitten appendage if small. anfd if the venom gets into the bloodstream cause severe hemorrhaging.
Yea, that is the one. I had to learn about them while taking Forest Fire Training, I am not a Forest Fire Fighter by the way to save a reply. I just had to take the training to become a Forest Technologist. They only spoke about them in B.C. since that was where we would likely encounter them. Thanks for the clarification.
Just leave her be, or, if you're really uncomfortable with handling her yourself, call your Dorm advisor, they're the ones that are supposed to make damn sure the dorms are a safe place to live. If they wont do anything, Windex is a good way to get rid of them, but if you prefur the humanitarian approach, a cup, a piece of paper, and lightning reflexes will also do the trick. You just have to be REALLY careful not to stand too close to where you set them loose....
