A robbery occurred in the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the morning of October 13, 1928. An armed assailant left two responding officers dead and one wounded, the injured and frantic young deputy's reports of a 'monster' were not given much weight as he was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. Only a single item was stolen, a ceremonial dagger of uncertain origin.
