You want to attach the rope to the wall about halfway up instead of too the 'floor' of that level. Gives them some landing.

haha look on the bright side, they deal with the same unstable ropes out in the wild. And I reckon they could keep themselves more occupied that way. What an awesome cage you've built for them, this is like pet rodent paradise!

OH man, they have the oddest ways of getting from level to level. I devised a poster roll tube with a rope danging in it, but they just jump up the tube anyway xD
