Even the sweetest vixen has her dark side.
This is the first of two portraits of Ciara which Taasla drew for me. It's a sort of companion piece for the chibi picture I posted a few days ago. The delightfully sly expression on Ciara's face was entirely her choice, I simply chose to interpret it a certain way. But don't worry. Ciara isn't really a bad girl. I'm sure she's just plotting to get her doughnuts back!

but she really looks great in this picture, darling. I like how this shows your girls don't just have the cutesy, mellow side, but that they do indeed have another side to them as well that might come forwards every now and then

Aw, nuts. I guess she'll have to find someone else to tickle mercilessly then, won't she?
But yeah, I like to let my characters show a whole range of emotions and I think you're going to start seeing a bit more of that in any future commissions I might get. I kind of wanted to start out with the happy, light-hearted stuff, because I want people to like my girls. But there's much more to them than just the fluff!
Aaand I managed to mess up the reply to you! Here it is again, so you can see it.
But yeah, I like to let my characters show a whole range of emotions and I think you're going to start seeing a bit more of that in any future commissions I might get. I kind of wanted to start out with the happy, light-hearted stuff, because I want people to like my girls. But there's much more to them than just the fluff!

But I certainly understand your reasoning, darling. Especially for new viewers who have not folloowed your Oseille story, the happy and cheerful pictures are a very good way to introduce people to your girls, but they definitely deserve to have their other sides shown as well. After all, it's the different sides of them that make them so strong and so interesting as characters!

Oh yes. And since I've taken Oseille down, I may be at least posting a few commissions that are based on the book. My latest commission with Luthien, for example, will be showing an adaptation of Ciara's reunion with her mother just after the first attack on Oseille took place. It's been simplified, because even if Luthien was willing to draw four characters in a single piece, that's a bit much to ask for, I think. Still, it will finally get Deirdre shown in my gallery, and I think it will work to show people that my characters do have a deeper side to them, too.

I thought it was high time I started giving some of the others a chance to play, too. I've got so many characters I want to get drawn at some point. I want to get my new kitty girls drawn too, plus some of the characters from my second novel. I've got a rather lovely wolf/skunk couple who needs some love. Both girls, naturally.

Yes, species diversity is something I really need to work on. So many of my characters are wolves, foxes or rabbits. But I'm currently sitting on the waiting list to get a commission from one of my favorite artists here on FA, and as she has agreed to work to a written description I have every intention of getting a picture done of the mousy heroine of my second novel. Because there just aren't enough mice around here for my taste.
Ooo, that is most certainly something to look forward to. I agree, we could do with a few more mice; I have every intention of doing my part for that as well by getting more pictures done of Minty, as well as of my two mousie girls in the Mara & Celeste timeline, the sexy tall pink Cerise and the cute stocky black and white Abby

Isn't it? Ciara's such a sweet girl I can't imagine her ever doing anything really bad. But everyone has those pesky shoulder demons who whisper bad things in your ear. I kind of have it in mind that this is one of her bad thoughts looking back at her. But yeah, there are a lot of ways you can interpret this piece, too, and that's really kind of cool.
