An animated sketch icon for
lapinbeau that was easy enough to "color" once I was done with it. I see now why old cartoons characters had the shapes that they did: they're so much easier to draw repeatedly.
This is the full sized version with all frames. To meed the 50k icon limit, I had to trim it down to 95x95, and remove about two frames. Fortunately it only looks slightly different.

Yup, basically. Since at the time, the modern animation principles were not developed, not to mention people didn't have the experiance in animation they would get now, they went with simpler, cartoony shapes. This ended up with a lot of people out of a job once things got a little more solid and realistic, because they couldn't adapt.
