This is the easiest apple sauce recipe I know. It makes delicious apple sauce that you can control the sugar level of. (important to diabetics like me.)
This will need the following
At least six decent sized peeled, cored and sliced apples
A cup and a half of sugar or in my case splenda for baking
1/2 cup of water
(if you have more apples adjust according to the number of apples... for nine apples use 3/4 of a cup etc.)
cinnamon to taste. I added two table spoons but for this batch I used ten apples (a whole bag)
place the peeled and cored apples into a crock pot on it's highest setting. Add the water into the crock pot and leave the apples to stew for 3 hours.
Return and add the sugar and cinnamon. Stir the resulting sauce to break up the apples and combine. This can be served hot or refrigerated. It keeps for at least 2 weeks.
That's honestly it.... I tend to check my apples every half hour to prevent burning, giving them a slight stir.

From Chris: To break it down easier, I would recommend using your potato masher, so it depends on the texture you are looking for.
