A superb new recipe from

This is nothing special but it was delicious. what makes this distinctly Australian is the addition of beetroot.
Ingredients
Bun or thickly sliced bread (toasted or un-toasted)
Butter both sides (or margarine or unbuttered)
BBQ sauce
Lemon Pepper Mayo (commercial blend by Praise)
Beef Burger
Slice of Bacon
1 egg
1 slice of cheese (your choice, whichever is your favourite)
Lettuce (I used Iceberg)
Tomato (thinly sliced)
Beetroot Slices (salt pickled not vinegar is my preference)
Method and Construction
In a medium hot pan, with a non-stick liner or some oil, get your choice of burger patty cooking and a slice of bacon
Prep the bun by carefully cutting it in half and buttering each side.
On the base side spread some mayonnaise, thinly sliced tomato, beetroot slices and some lettuce topping that with cheese
At this point one side of the burger pattie should be nicely browned so flip the burger and flip the bacon
Get the egg frying in the pan (if you have trouble cracking eggs crack it into a small bowl first then pour it into the pan)
Once the egg is cooked through (sunny side up or you can flip it to cook the other side a little.)
Lay your burger patty on top of the cheese, add the egg and then the slice of bacon.
Carefully put the lid on the burger
Note: I recommend that anything that is fried gets popped on a small rack or paper towel to drain any excess fats off.
It's a heck of a handful and can be quite messy so break out the paper towel and bib; but omg it tastes so yummy.
Optional additions include: lightly fried or fresh onion, fried or fresh mushroom slices, fried zucchini rings and for the really adventurous add a little Hawaiian twist by adding a thin slice of fried or fresh pineapple and some mango salsa.
If you don't have any burger patties available you can do this with thickly sliced spam or for a vegan version grab some firm tofu, roll a thick slice in a mix of bread crumbs and herbs and fry till golden.
