I've been pretty silent here for a while. The pack and I (sans the kitty) took a week long trip down Highway 101 from Washington to California. Started at Ocean Shores, turned back at Redwood National Park. This was first night, Ocean Shores.
It was fun making this shot. Set the camera on a tripod, as close to the sand on the beach as I could get it. Locked it into manual. Set up exposure. Set focus roughly on infinity. Waited for a big wave to come, then ran out following it. Turned around, set the whole camera/tripod rig on the wet sand, and hollered for the pack to walk towards me. Shot frame after frame, then finally picked up the unit and skeedadled back for shore before anything important got wet. 1 second exposure, f4, ISO 800. Really, the secret sauce here was getting the camera close enough to the ground to catch the reflections. I <3 my pack.
