A couple of newlyweds who are starting a new routine of enjoying breakfast tea together before starting the day.
I originally just drew these two for showing off Giant squirrels as a species but they just had so much personality that they instantly became new OCs. They are just so much fun to draw,especially since giant squirrels have such big long wonderful tails. That inspired the tail hug they are exchanging.
I see them as being very tall each close to 7 feet in hight but with the shorted legs and longer torsos that are close to squirrelly anatomy. I'll have to draw them along with some other squirrel characters for scale.

I hadn't really thought into it much but when you mentioned this I started looking at examples it seems to be a trend. It may just be that with the way anthro characters are frequently expressions of personal traits that interspecies depictions are used to display different characteristics of the partners in the relationship. That's just a cold guess but I'll probably be putting some thought into this trend now that you've called it out.
