"There goes your rook," Xara' said with what humans might call a smug expression, her mandibles pressing together tightly. She lifted her own knight between her long, left middle finger and "thumb", hovering it over the board as she knocked the castle on its side. "I remember similar games on Sanghelios, when I was younger," she bemused, the diplomats daughter reflecting on her brief childhood there before moving to Earth with her parents. "I'm starting to get fairly good at this one though," she chuckled, picking up another donut as she slid it between her mandibles, waiting for you to make your own move.
It was true, she had gotten quite good at it, you could scarcely remember the last time you'd won these last couple of months. Yet, despite her intelligence the price for her skill was obvious seemingly only to you. Around her middle a practical tire of fat was developing, her navel now exposed as her once form-fitting shirt rode up her stomach. She let out a little belch as she finished her donut, already picking up the next. When she focused on the game, she seemed to zone out of all else, her hand idly pushing the next bite down her mouth as she stared at the board. During her next turn, she hardly noticed that as you came back from getting a glass of water, yet another plate of donuts was in your hand, and she paid no mind as you swapped it out for the now empty plate beside her. You'd been dating for only a month now, but at this rate, you were already drooling at the idea of how she'd look on your first anniversary.
