Next morning, Penny and her friends went to school, leaving their dogs at their homes. Bolt and his friends started their superhero training. At Penny’s home, Bolt was practicing with his new powers on the backyard, when he suddenly felt an unacceptable presence over the fence…
“Squirrel!” he said.
He ran against the fence, jumping and barking repeatedly at the squirrel. Suddenly, he jumped so high that he almost reached the sky! When he fell, he hit the ground so hard that he left a crater! The squirrel was literally shaken by this, so it fell from the fence and fled.
“Wow! Superjump, check. Now, I must cover this up before Penny or her mom find out.”
Outside Bob’s home, Gerald was practicing with his fire powers by playing basketball.
“Let’s see how my flames fare at this!” he said.
Since the basketball hoop’s net had been burnt off, there was no risk of setting it on fire again. Gerald grabbed the ball, which caught on flames, and threw it toward the hoop, but as the ball was about to miss…
“Wait!” he yelled, pointing at the ball.
Then, something weird happened. The flaming ball stood floating in midair! Gerald moved his paw toward another direction, and the ball followed it. Then, he instructed the ball to dunk into the hoop. Upon hitting the floor, the ball’s fire extinguished.
“Cool! Not only I have the power to turn to fire and create it, but I can also set fire to basketball balls, and control them!”
At Elizabeth’s home, Poppy was practicing to create bubbles with her hands in the bathroom.
“Ok, let’s see.” She said. “Small bubble!”
A small bubble came out of her paw. Upon seeing this, Poppy giggled.
“I did it! Now, big bubble!”
A big bubble came out of Poppy’s paw. However, it floated onto her snout and burst.
“Oh, dear. I wonder if I can…”
Poppy concentrated and created another bubble. However, this bubble was different from the others. It was a resistant one! She toyed with it, like if it was a little bouncy ball. When she got bored, she tried to burst the bubble by poking it, but to no avail. She decided to try clapping, and it worked!
“Brilliant!”
At Earl’s home, Dustin was practicing with his new elastic abilities. Stretching his body, he placed four open books in the bookshelf, each one on a shelf. In order to reach a book and read it, he had to stretch his legs, either to raise or lower his body, depending on the position of the book. Then, he thought:
“Such special reading needs some motivational music.”
Stretching his paw, he reached for a boombox on a table, pressed the power button, and it began playing opera music.
“Ahh, much better.”
At Gordon’s home, Shawn was at the garage, trapped in a dog fence! He had been punished for breaking through the pet door the previous day. However, this wasn’t going to stop Shawn, now that he had super strength and resistance! He stepped back, then charged toward the dog fence’s door and…
BOOM!
The door flew away, and Shawn was free once again!
“Oh, super powers of mine! I know we’ve met only a day ago, but, what could I do without you?” he said.
At Annette’s home, Caroline was at the garden, watching some birds fly above her.
“All right. This time, I’m gonna try to fly properly!” Caroline said. “Little birds, be my guides!”
She began to flap her ears repeatedly, until she began to take flight.
“I believe I can fly… I believe I can fly!” Caroline repeated to herself.
Following the birds’ example, she concentrated and managed to fly with them.
“I can’t believe it!” she said, giggling. “I’m actually flying like a bird!”
Later, the six dogs gathered at the dog park again.
“So, guys...” Bolt said. “Did you learn something today?”
“Yes!” Dustin said. “My body isn’t the only thing that can stretch. My legs can, too! And they’re strong enough to lift me up or put me down!”
“And did you know I’m capable of creating unbreakable bubbles?” Poppy asked.
Then, she created a bubble that couldn’t be burst by poking it. She clapped and the bubble burst.
“Yes, that’s the only way.”
“I can set fire to basketball balls and control them with my paws!” Gerald said.
He had brought his ball to make a demonstration, so in front of his friends, he ignited the ball in midair, and wherever Gerald moved his paw, the flaming ball followed it.
“As for me, now I’m able to fly like a bird with my ears alone!” Caroline said.
“And I… um…” Shawn said. “No, I didn’t learn something new.”
“Don’t worry, Shawn.” Bolt said. “Your metal resistance and strength are just enough. Now, who shall we save today?”
Suddenly, Bolt heard something in the distance. Three thugs in a car were running away from robbing a bank!
“Looks like there are bad guys on the run! Let’s go!”
Without wasting any time, Bolt and his friends headed to where the car was supposed to pass by. When Bolt saw the thugs’ car coming, he used his laser vision on one of the car’s wheels! It began to drift uncontrollably.
“We can’t let that car crash anywhere!” Bolt said. “Shawn, looks like this is a task for you!”
“Got it!” Shawn said.
He ran up to the back of the thugs’ car and grabbed its bumper with his teeth. Using his great might, he tried to stop the car on its tracks. The car slowed down until it stopped… upon knocking down a street light! Before it fell to the ground, Dustin stretched his body and lassoed the street light.
“Guys, I will not hold it forever! I’m not that strong!” Dustin said. “I need some assistance!”
“Don’t worry, Dustin. Here we come!” Shawn said, letting go of the car’s bumper.
He and Bolt helped Dustin by pulling the street light to its original position. Then, Gerald used his flame powers to weld it to the ground. But the battle was not over yet. The three thugs came out of the damaged car with their guns! One of them fired at Bolt, but Shawn stood in front of him, deflecting the bullets like a shield. Then, he charged toward the thug. However, he tripped, rolled onto the thug and sent him flying. Another thug tried to shoot Caroline, but she said:
“Nuh-uh-uhh! Don’t even try, because I can fly!”
Caroline took flight and swiftly evaded all of the thug’s shots.
“Now, take this!”
She flapped her ears hard at the thug, creating a small tornado that knocked him to the ground!
Lastly, the third thug aimed his gun at Bolt, but the dog stared at his gun while growling. Suddenly, the gun disintegrated in the thug’s hand! Bolt also had heat vision! Now that the thug was disarmed, Bolt jumped onto his chest with a bark, then grabbed the thug, and threw him aside with all of his might. Once the three thugs were defeated, Poppy said:
“Now, to put my newly learned abilities to the test!”
Putting her paws together and pointing them at the thugs, she created an enormous bubble that trapped them inside!
“Good.” Bolt said. “That’ll keep them in place until the cops arrive.”
Bolt and his friends quickly left, just as the police arrived to catch the thugs. They were confused when they saw them trapped inside a giant bubble. A policeman poked it and a great amount of water fell over the thugs, leaving them wet and humiliated.
Soon, the strange apprehension of the criminals appeared on the news. When the thugs assured six dogs with superpowers had stopped them, the reporters associated it with the previous day’s incident about the old lady and the two robbers. In the end, they got to the conclusion that, in fact, superheroes were involved. Who were they? Where were they now? And what would they do next?
That evening, when they returned home with their owners, the dogs watched TV and found out about this. Luckily, nobody knew that they were the superheroes. When the night came, Bolt and his friends gathered outside their houses to have a little talk before going to sleep.
“Dude, these last two days have been very busy!” Gerald said.
“Usually I like to spend most of my time in pet parlors, but being a superheroine is actually kind of fun!” Poppy said.
“You said it!” Caroline said.
“We’ll have epic battles against troublesome villains in order to defend our beloved city!” Dustin said. “That’s what man’s best friend must do!”
“And for that, we will combine our elemental powers!” Shawn said. “Hey, we need a catchphrase! Every superhero has one. What will ours be?”
“How about: Wherever there’s affliction, we’ll fly into action?” Caroline recommended.
“Sounds cool, Caroline.” Bolt said. “But remember, we can’t all fly.”
“How about this one: When bad guys are causing hassle, we’ll give them a tussle!” Shawn said.
“When villains see us coming, they’ll end up burning!” Gerald said.
“With grace and beauty, saving the day is our duty!” Poppy said.
“Hey, I got one” Dustin said. “How about: As man’s best friend, our city we’ll defend!”
“Hey, nice one, Dustin!” Bolt said. “That should be it.”
“What can I say? Poetry is one of my specialties.”
“Together, as a team, we’ll be the heroes our city needs.” Bolt said. “And we will protect our city, our friends and our homes!”
After this, the six dog friends went to their homes to sleep. Meanwhile, at Richards Enterprises, Inc., Roy Richards hadn’t given up. He had the blueprints to rebuild his multi elemental machine, no matter the hard work it would take. However, he had an unexpected guest… Dr. Calico! Quickly, the Professor hid the blueprints from him in his desk.
“Good evening, Professor.” Calico greeted him.
“Who are you?” Professor Richards asked him nervously.
“Dr. Heinrich Von Calico at your service. I wanted to talk business with you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll be more specific. I need your machine, and its power inside.”
“My multi elemental generator? It’s meant to create everything man needs. What power are you talking about?”
“How naive, Professor. Apparently, your superior intellect has unwittingly made your machine be capable of doing so much more! You see, your machine’s power to create elements is so big, that people can actually be infused with it, earning the ability to create them as well. Imagine what one person could do with all that!”
“You want to use my machine for your own purposes? What are you up to?”
“That’s none of your business. Now, where’s the machine?”
“It’s been destroyed, ok? I no longer have it here.”
Calico thought that perhaps somebody was nearby when the machine was destroyed.
“Show me where the multi elemental machine’s powers are found right now.”
Much to the Professor’s horror, Calico’s green eye began to glow, and it showed him where the machine’s power was… inside the bodies of six dogs!
“So… it seems six little friends of you have acquired multi elemental powers.” Calico said, with an evil grin. “I might send some friends to pay them a visit.”
“No!” the Professor cried.
“As for you, I may stay here and keep you for a while...”
