In honor to the 13th anniversary of Bolt, one of my favorite Disney movies, here's a reboot of the adventures of everyone's favorite superdog! Instead of being like a sci-fi TV show, these stories will be more akin to superhero comics. Enjoy!

In the ancient ruins of Egypt, an archeologist with an eye patch named Dr. Heinrich Von Calico was looking for a treasure. It was the Green Eye of Basti, a mystic artifact that would allow its possessor to see his greatest desire, and grant him an army with the strength of a hundred big felines. Escorted by his henchmen, Dr. Calico walked through the sandy, torchlit corridors of the ruins in order to find the treasure. Soon, they stumbled upon traps! The traps involved quicksand pits, loose tiles on the floor and darts shooting from the walls! Many henchmen perished, but Calico was very agile and had sharp reflexes, so he evaded every single trap, and with his high intellect, deactivated the traps so his remaining henchmen could get through. Finally, they made it the chamber where the Green Eye of Basti lied.
“There it is…” Dr. Calico said. “It’s finally mine.”
Walking toward it and removing his eye patch, Calico grabbed the Eye of Basti and inserted it in his eye socket. Suddenly, he felt extreme amounts of mystic power rushing through his body. His green eye lit up, as his henchmen watched him in shock.
“Now I’m one step closer to world domination!” Calico said, cackling. “Let’s see what this can do for you…”
Calico threw an energy blast from his hands at his henchmen, and they were surrounded by a mysterious green mist. When the mist dissipated, the henchmen now had feline-like black armors with claws that emanated electricity!
“Now, show me where I can find the ultimate power.”
The Eye of Basti showed Calico what he was looking for: an amalgam of multiple powers in one device. Where was it found? Outside the Richards Enterprises building, in California!
There, the scientist genius whose name was Professor Roy Richards, was showing his latest invention, a multi-elemental generator! It was a device capable of creating many different elements, such as fire, water, wind, metal, electricity and rubber, in case the day of their shortage came. Penny Richards, daughter of Professor Richards, and her friends, Annette, Gordon, Elizabeth, Bob and Earl were among the crowd, along with Penny’s mother, Kimberly Richards. They were the guests of honor. Penny and her friends had also brought their dogs with them.
Penny’s dog was Bolt, an American White Shepherd who was very loving and protective of her. Annette’s dog was Caroline, a female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with long ears and a bubbly personality. Gordon’s dog was Shawn, a clumsy but goodhearted Old English Sheepdog. Elizabeth’s dog was Poppy, a glamorous female French Poodle who loved to be the center of attention. Bob’s dog was Gerald, a Golden Retriever who loved basketball and had a thing for socks. And finally, Earl’s dog was Dustin, a Dachshund who loved to read epic stories and tragedies and listening to opera. Together, these six dogs were best friends.
They started playing with a ball they had brought. Meanwhile, Professor Richards was taken inside the building by some people to be interviewed, leaving the machine outside. Penny, her mother, her friends and the crowd followed them. While the six dog friends were still playing outside the building, Shawn hit the ball with such might that it flew away from him and his friends, and ended up bouncing uncontrollably right under the multi-elemental generator!
“Oh, no!” Shawn said. “I didn’t mean to do that! It was an accident!”
“You have to control your strength, big guy.” Gerald said.
“I know, but besides, my hair covers my eyes and I can hardly see!”
“Calm down, both of you!” Bolt said. “I’ll go get it.”
“Are you sure, Bolt?” Caroline said. “Did you see how the ball bounce under the machine? It might have broken some circuits! I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I’ll be fine, Caroline. Don’t worry.”
“Be careful, Bolt.” Dustin said.
Bolt approached slowly under Dr. Richards’s machine, trying to retrieve the ball.
“Oh, my goodness!” Poppy said. “This is getting on my nerves!”
However, indeed, the machine had been damaged by the ball. Some sparks began to come out of it, a strange beeping was heard and the inside of the machine began to shine brighter and brighter!
“Uh oh.” Gerald said. “That thing looks like it’s gonna blow!”
“It’s dangerous for Bolt to be there!” Dustin said.
“Bolt, you gotta get outta there!” Caroline yelled.
“I almost got it, I almost got it…” Bolt said.
“Don’t worry, buddy! We will save you!” Shawn said.
All of his friends ran toward him, but as soon as they reached him…
KA-BOOOOOOM!
As soon as they saw the explosion, the crowd exited the building to see what was going on, and Professor Richards abandoned his interview to see what had happened to his machine. Bolt, Caroline, Shawn, Poppy, Gerald and Dustin were lying on the ground unconscious, and a black lightning bolt mark appeared on one side of each. Penny and her friends saw them, hurried to lift them up in their arms. They called their names, scared and crying. The six dogs were promptly taken to the vet. Roy Richards was devastated to see his machine destroyed, not having any idea of what went wrong.
At the vet, the kids learned that strangely, their dogs were unharmed. They didn’t even had burns nor smelled like fire! Anyway, they were told to let their dogs rest.
Next morning, each dog woke up at their homes feeling like new, and proceeded to do their morning routine. Poppy went to the mirror, and started fixing her hair and putting makeup on. However, something strange happened. Her paws were watery, and she ended up getting her face and hair wet!
“Hmmm… I don’t remember washing my paws this morning.” Poppy said.
Caroline was combing her ears, but as she flapped them, they kept flapping out of control, and what’s weirder, they lifted her into the air!
“Whooooaaaa! What’s happening!?” Caroline said.
She flew unwittingly across the room, knocking stuff down and causing a mess!
Shawn woke up in the garage… and realized his dog bed had been flattened!
“Did I gain more weight than usual?” Shawn said.
Then, he heard his owner Gordon calling him for breakfast. Excited, he ran up to the pet door that led to the kitchen, but on his way, he tripped, rolled onto the pet door, and broke through it with his body!
“Wow! Not only did I get heavier, but also stronger!”
Dustin was reading a book in his bed. When he finished it, he wanted to read another of his favorite books, but it was high on a bookcase!
“Aw, man!” Dustin said. “Why did they put it so high?”
He walked up to the bookcase and reached for the book. Suddenly, he began to rise until he grabbed the book. Startled by this, he looked down and realized his body had stretched like a rubber band! He jumped in surprise, but his body returned to his normal stature and fell on the floor.
Gerald was playing basketball outside his house. He successfully landed a few dunks in the basketball hoop.
“I’m just getting warmed up!” He said.
He took a few steps back, then ran toward the basketball hoop and jumped really high, landing a great dunk.
“Boy, I’m on fire today.”
Suddenly, he saw the basketball hoop’s net… in flames! The ball was on fire, too!
“What?”
Then, he realized he was feeling very warm. He took a look at himself and…
“Aah! I really am on fire!”
Yelping, he ran up to the neighbor’s pool and dived into it. With a sigh, he extinguished his flames. However, he had to run when the neighbor found out a dog was in his pool.
Later, while their owners were at school, the six dog friends gathered at the dog park and talked about their experiences.
“Guys, you should have seen what happened to me this morning!” Gerald said. “I was playing basketball at home, when suddenly, I got covered in flames!”
“Really?” Shawn said. “Well, when I woke up, my bed was flat as a carpet and covered in fluff! Then I ran up to the pet door to have breakfast and broke through it! It never happened to me before. Usually I’m not that strong, nor heavy…”
“What about me?” Poppy said. “I was putting my makeup on, when my paws couldn’t stop pouring water, and I my face ended up like a clown’s! It was horrible! Then, I took a bubble bath to get it off, and found out there were some bubbles that didn’t come from the water!”
She raised her paw, and it had some bubbles coming out of it.
“See?”
“Something strange has happened to me, too!” Dustin said. “I was trying to reach one of my favorite books on the bookcase, when suddenly, I found out I had stretched like rubber!”
“And I was combing my ears, when they started flapping and took me flying across the room!” Caroline said. “And you, Bolt? What has happened to you?”
“Me? Nothing, so far.” Bolt said. “However, it’s weird that all of you gained these… abilities. What could have been the cause?”
He thought for a second and remembered something.
“The explosion! That machine was able to create water, fire, wind, metal, rubber and electricity, right? When it exploded, its energy entered your bodies and gave you powers. Poppy, you can create water and bubbles. Gerald, you can become fire and create it. Caroline, you can create wind with your ears and use them to fly. Dustin, you can stretch your body like if it was made of rubber. And Shawn, you are strong and heavy like metal!”
“And how come you didn’t earn any power, Bolt?” Gerald asked. “You were like the closest one to the explosion!”
“I don’t know, but I must have one.”
“Gasp! Bolt!” Shawn said. “What’s that on your side?”
Bolt looked at his side and saw the lightning bolt mark.
“I don’t know, but you have one, too, Shawn!”
“You also have a mark, Gerald!” Caroline said.
“And you, too, Caroline!” Gerald said.
“I have one, too!” Dustin said.
“Don’t forget about me!” Poppy said. “I think it looks stylish!”
“The machine must have caused these as well.” Bolt said. “Wait, electricity is missing. These lightning bolt marks must have something to do with it. Does that mean we all share the electricity power?”
“I don’t know.” Shawn said. “None of us has used electricity so far.”
Suddenly, the six friends heard a cry for help! Then, they saw two robbers in an alley who were trying to snatch a handbag from an old lady!
“Bolt, that old lady over there is in trouble!” Dustin said.
“Oh, no! We gotta help her!” Caroline said.
“Quick, follow me!” Bolt said.
Bolt, Dustin, Caroline, Gerald, Shawn and Poppy ran to help the old lady. Bolt ran up to one of the robbers and gave him a BIG tackle! The robber was sent flying onto some garbage cans.
“Wow, am I really that strong?” Bolt asked himself.
Behind him, the other robber pulled out a gun and aimed it at Bolt!
“Bolt, look out!” Poppy said.
Standing between Bolt and the robber, she threw tiny, harmless bubbles from her paws at the latter’s face.
“Take that!”
Annoyed by the bubbles, the robber kicked Poppy out of the way and she rolled onto a wall, ending upside down.
“Ow! My hair!”
The robber aimed his gun at Bolt again.
“Bolt, no!” Shawn cried.
The robber fired three shots, but Shawn jumped in front of Bolt and deflected them as if he was made of solid metal!
“What just happened?” Bolt asked, amazed.
“I don’t know, I just deflected those bullets!”
Still between the garbage cans, the first robber was trying to get back up, but Caroline stood in front of him and hit his face repeatedly with her long ears. Then, behind him, Gerald said:
“Now get a load of this!”
He created a tiny flame with his paw and burnt the robber’s butt! Hollering in pain, the robber stood up and tried to run away.
“Oh, no, you don’t!” Dustin said.
He stretched his body and stood in the fleeing robber’s way, making him trip. Meanwhile, the second robber tried to escape as well.
“Not if I can help it!” Poppy said.
She laid her paws on the ground, creating a small puddle. The robber slipped and fell. Bolt noticed a drop-down fire escape ladder on the stairs outside a building.
“Hmmm…” Bolt thought.
Suddenly, he unwittingly fired a couple laser beams from his eyes that caused the ladder to fall, tumble onto the robber and trap him!
“And I got laser vision, too?” Bolt asked, surprised.
The two robbers were finally defeated. The old lady had seen everything, cowering in a corner. Soon, the police arrived, but then, Bolt and his friends were gone. The old lady tried to explain everything to the policemen. She told them how six dogs with superpowers saved her from getting her handbag stolen by the burglars. As expected, the policemen didn’t believe the old lady. However, they took the two robbers prisoner.
Meanwhile, the six dog friends returned to the dog park, laughing.
“Man, that was awesome!” Gerald said.
“So those are your superpowers, Bolt!” Caroline said. “Super strength and laser vision!”
“Imagine the things we could do with our powers!” Shawn said.
“You mean becoming superheroes?” Dustin asked.
“Well, yeah! What else could six dogs with superpowers do?”
“Heheh. Maybe.” Bolt said. “But we’re not ready yet. We must first improve our skills, and keep our powers in secret. We don’t want our owners to know we have them, right?”
His friends nodded no. Then, Bolt heard something far away from him. It was the school bell. Penny, Annette, Elizabeth, Earl, Bob and Gordon were just leaving the school.
“Guys, our owners just came out of school! Let’s greet them!”
Bolt headed running to the school.
“Bolt, wait up!” Poppy said.
She ran after Bolt, and her friends followed her shortly after.
“Bolt, you’re going too fast!” Dustin said. “Remember I have short legs!”
Suddenly, Bolt zoomed away from them at the speed of light! Just as Penny and her friends were preparing to head home, Bolt greeted her with a bark.
“Bolt! What are you doing here?” Penny asked him.
Shortly after, Caroline, Poppy, Dustin, Gerald and Shawn arrived, tired and panting. Penny’s friends greeted them and petted them.
In the evening, while all of them were walking home, Bolt and his friends were talking. Obviously, their owners couldn’t understand them. They just heard barks.
“So, Bolt, you have four superpowers?” Gerald asked. “Super strength, super speed, super hearing and laser vision?”
“I know. It’s crazy, right?” Bolt said.
“But why?” Caroline asked. “I don’t remember the machine being capable of doing that.”
“That scientist is such a genius!” Shawn said. “His machine ended up doing something else!”
“Honestly, I don’t know how this came to be.” Bolt said. “But there must be some explanation. For now, let’s just go home and rest.”
“I agree.” Poppy said. “A future heroine must have her beauty sleep.”
“As for me, I better start reading comics.” Dustin said. “You know, to have some inspiration from other heroes.”
Thus, the six dog friends headed home with their respective owners, not fully aware of the great destiny that lied ahead of them.
