A PN junction is the result of putting p-type and n-type semiconductors together (p is positive, with an excess of holes where electrons should be; and n is negative, with an excess of electrons). Boundary potential is the electric tension that results from putting the two together. PN junctions only allow electrical current to flow through the junction in one direction, so they're useful for building diodes and transistors.
The band diagram Walter drew describes the possible (and forbidden) energy levels for the electrons in the junction. His diagram is missing the gap between valence and conduction bands, which is a big fucking mistake and shows that you don't really understand what you're doing.
Calculating boundary potential is not particularly difficult, though, it certainly wouldn't be a final exam question. I wanted to do something accurate enough because I know there's a lot of furries in STEM that will notice if I'm just scribbling nonsense, but I didn't feel like digging through my college notes to get a more complicated one.

i mean even if he missed a single day he could have gotten help catching up from a friend or just picked it up from the next time he showed up cause the class could have used the diagram or formula form the class he missed
