No one ever likes to be bothered when they’re in a sour mood, and this is especially true for Reyes. He does not enjoy having time that could be spent to himself be forced to take a turn towards an even crappier day. It doesn’t matter who or what it is that decides to mess with him during a bad mood, he will let whatever it is know that the free trial of life has ended. While seeing a pissy angel is actually quite uncommon, it is strongly advised to stay out of their way until they’ve calmed down.
In this very unfortunate situation, a group of thugs tried to trick Reyes into coming to their tavern on the false claims of making a deal with him in return for money. This, unsurprisingly, failed horribly and they were all killed, except for the leader. Who was quickly put in place by Reyes bringing up said deal, despite knowing it was a lie. In the end, it’s a lose-lose for the poor leader that made the Angel of Death aggravated.

It’s not Reyes wanting the money, it’s the thugs. While deals are more of a demon’s thing, making a deal with an angel (which are actually called wishes and not deals) is possible and unlike a demon deal that can have drawbacks, an angel one doesn’t. If they had made a deal with Reyes, it would be a 100% guarantee they would get what they want without any “oh by the way” aspects. The big mistake(s) was that they 1. Didn’t tell him what he’d get in return and 2. Wanted something that was a sin, which angels can’t do (the sin being greed). Since angels are a universal species, and mortals actually know about what angels can and cannot grant, so it’s a really big slap in the face to want a sin wish.
As for his time, even immortal entities have certain ways of it being considered “wasted.” It’s really more of the fact that his time would have been spent on those with greed, not to mention he was already just wanting time to himself at this moment, so it’s also just him being done.

Just because they know about angels doesn’t mean they’re smart about what they know. It’s like knowing a tiger can kill you but jumping into a tiger enclosure anyway to “tame” it. Those kind of people. No one knows exactly what happens if they ask for a sin wish, just that it’s a big no-no. Though Reyes is the first angel to ever actually kill mortals, past angels really never did super extreme measures like he does, so it’s a major shock. In the end, they were indeed just real stupid
