Maria had a pleasant sleep after the full warm meal and long day. Early in the morning she stepped outside with a stretch. She was stopped in her tracks by the surprise of a large fish left on the ground in front of the door. It was obvious it hadn't been there that long since the ground around it was still wet. The creature had left her another gift she figured right away. Perhaps it was confirming it enjoyed the fish soup she had made the day before.
She picked up the rather heavy fish. It was far larger than any she had seen in the shallow waters. Properly prepared it would easily give her a few days of meals. This was another great gift and she happily brought it inside and started to clean and prepare it. she'd made some more soup with part of it for today and figured she'd cook more of it tonight and see about drying the rest.
After she let the soup simmer a bit she filled her bowl with some of it and took it outside first. Walking back to the spot she had left it before. As she knelt down she heard a rustling in the leaves nearby and looked over. Startled to see the creature right at the edge of the clearing watching her.
