For the wood effect, you might want to try cutting lines into the handle, and then using some sort of staining paint, and then quickly wiping with a damp cloth. The stuff in the grooves should stay dark, while some of the rest of it will come up, giving it a lighter color. I don't remember the name of the technique, but it's something I've seen done to good effect with ceramics/figures painting, so you could look into that for ideas. ^_^

Damn... I'll have to figure out how to get a capacitor into the head of the dart so it can be launched and give a little shock to someone.

for the darker parts and that antiqued look you'll want to do whats known as 'Glazing' where you lay a glaze paint in a little thicker than you would normally paint..letting it rest in nooks and crannies and the like...dark colored glazes work best for the antique look.
