A Preschooler and a Baby Part 1
A Preschooler and a Baby Part 1
"When is your friends son getting here?," Spitfire asked Elsina. "In a few minutes," she responds, "it makes me so happy that you are so excited to meet him." "And he's really staying here for a few days while his mommy and daddy are taking a vacation," he says, while hoping to be correct. Elsina nods with a smile. "Yay," he exclaims while doing a little dance, "I have a new friend to play with." "Thats right you do and to be honest I think you'll have a lot of things in common," continues Elsina. "I bet he'll like watching cartoons with me while trying to color at the same time," said Spitfire. Elsina laughs a bit before responding with, "you know, I think you will." Spitfire stays silent for a couple seconds before noticing a car going down their driveway.
Despite the fact that he was excited, Spitfire decided to sit back on the couch to continue watching some "Sonic Boom." "I'll go get it," Elsina says right after the doorbell is ranged. "Just act casual," Spitfire thought to himself while having a plushie by his side, "don't be too excited." He was so focused on his own thoughts that he didn't even hear any words from the family who just entered the room, the TV didn't help. "You'll love Spitfire," Elsina said to Adam, the little dragon they were watching over, "he's really nice and he loves to play." "Oh and here's his stuff for potty training," the father said. "And I brought my toys," Adam adds. "And here's his other things, thank you for doing this Elsina," the mother said. "Its no problem," Elsina said, "you enjoy your trip." "Why thank you," said the father, "and you know his preschool schedule?" "I know where the school is and when he should be there," Elsina assured them. "Thats great," the mom said with the father nodding shortly after, "want a hug for the road?" Adam really didn't have a choice as he was picked up immediately after and received a hug from both of his parents. "Now you be good okay and tell Elsina or Spitfire when you have to go potty," his mom told him. "Okay mommy," he says before looking at Spitfire. With that his parents leave for a little vacation and let the games begin.
While Spitfire was confident that Adam would like him, he still had some doubts about the whole thing. Trying to calm his nerves, he picked up his dinosaur plush and gave him a hug. "I like your dinosaur mister," Adam said to Spitfire. Spitfire waited for a second before answering back with, "thanks, my mommy bought me this." "My mommy bought me a dinosaur too," Adam replied back, "wanna see him?" "Yes, please," Spitfire said while loosening his grip on Roary. Adam went to one of the bags that was left with him and took out a dinosaur of his own. "His name is Scales," Adam said while getting back on the couch, "whats yours name?" His name is Roary," Spitfire replied with, "he's one of my favourites, I won't go to sleep without him." "I like to sleep with Scales," Adam said while hugging his own dinosaur.
After a few minutes have passed, Adam asked Spitfire a question. "Who is that guy," Adam asked Spitfire. "The hedgehog with the black quills?" said Spitfire, "His name is Shadow." "He is acting like big meanie," Adam said while watching the cartoon. "Yeah," Spitfire said, "he isn't exactly friendly." "Why?" Adam asked him. "Well, lets just say his past wasn't exactly good," Spitfire said to him. "What does past mean?," asked Adam. "It means what happened before," Spitfire answered while looking at the cartoon. "Oh," Adam replied, "you must be really smart mister." "Thanks," Spitfire replied. They continue watching the cartoon until Adam starts to hear nature call.
"Mister Spitfire," Adam said to Sptfire, "I have to go potty." "Then lets run to the potty," Elsina said, with it still in the living room. "But you're here," Adam said to her. "Its okay," Elsina assured him, "grown ups like Spitfire and I will be here just in case you need help." Adam hesitated before sitting on his potty. "And remember," Spitfire said, "don't get off till you tell us that you're done." "Okay," Adam said as he started to go. "And if you stay dry for the whole day," Elsina adds, "you get a gold star on your potty chart." "I wouldn't know how that feels like," Spitfire said in a casual manner. "Why?," Alex said while still sitting down. "Well theres a reason a grown up like me still needs diapers," Spitfire told him, "I couldn't be potty trained." "You could never make it to the potty?," Adam said to him. "Thats right," said Spitfire.
After Adam was done, Elsina took the potty to empty and clean it. "Why couldn't you make it to the potty, mister?," Adam asked Spitfire. "I don't that you should ask him that question," Elsina said, "everyones needs privacy." "No, its okay," Spitfire as Adam sat back down with him, "I would be confused too." Elsina shrugged as she went upstairs before saying, "I'm putting your potty next to the grown up potty." "Okay," Adam said back to her. "Well you know how your mommy and daddy say if you have to go, you might have to hold it," Spitfire asked him. Adam nodded. "Well no matter how hard I try, I can't, though I can hold my stinkies and go to the potty," he said to Adam. Adam nodded again as he understood. "So you were never a big kid ," he asked Spitfire. "Well I kind of was," Spitfire responded.
Spitfire put his right claw around Adam before saying, "allow me to tell you how I was became a big boy." "When I was a few years older than you," he said while the flashback starts, "I wanted to show my parents that I could still be big." The scene transitions to a younger Spitfire getting a change from his mom. "Hey, mommy," he said to her when he was being wiped. "Yes, my hatchling," she says while still wiping him. "If I could give myself a diaper change, would I be a big boy," he asked her. She paused for a second before saying, "you can make it to the potty sometimes," she said while throwing the baby wipe in the garbage, "I think that makes you a big boy." "But you're still giving me changes," he says while she's closing his tapes. "Tell you what," she says to him, "next time your diaper's wet I will see if you can do it by yourself." "Really?," he asked her. She nods with a smile. "Thanks mommy," he says before hugging her.
"That was the only time in my life when I couldn't wait to need a fresh diaper," Spitfire said while narrating. Adam chuckled at this. "I did my favourite things to pass the time, which mainly involved watching TV and play video games," he said while still narrating. Back to the story, Spitfire noticed that his diaper was wet after watching cartoons and playing a few tracks in "Mario Kart: Double Dash." Not wanting to cause a leak, he immediately got up and proceeded to get all he needed for his change. "Mommy," he yelled out, "I'm going to the bathroom to change." "Got it," she said back, "I'll be there in a few minutes." "This is so exciting," he said while he was headed to the bathroom, "if I pass, i'll be a big boy." He checks to see if he had everything he needed. "I'm ready," he said as he put the diaper changing stuff down so he could open the door.
Spitfires mom came in shortly after. "I'm here if you need me," she said. Spitfire rolled his eyes while putting the changing mat on the floor, "I won't need you this time mommy." "It wasn't that hard to be honest," Spitfire said while narrating, "there were times when I didn't cover my eyes with something." Spitfires mom continued to watch while being happy to see her son successfully changing himself to also being sad that her son is starting to not need her. "I'm staring at a big boy," his mom said. "You mean it, I did everything right," he said while standing up. She nods with a smile. "I'm a big boy," he said proudly before putting his rolled up diaper in his pail. He then walked to the sink to wash up. "I'm going to tell daddy the big news," he said while washing his claws. He then left the room with the biggest smile on his face. "And thats how I became a big boy," Spitfire said as he finished the story.
"I didn't know you could do it yourself," said Adam. "Anything is possible if you try," Spitfire said. "Oh, boys," said Elsina, "I'm making some grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Do you want to go to the table and color for a bit?" Spitfire and Adam both looked at each other and nodded. "Alright then," she said, "do you remember where the crayons and paper is Spitfire?," "Yep," he says as he heads to a drawer full of arts and crafts. "We got lots of cool colors Adam," he said, "like ones that glitter and even colored pencils." "Do you have finger paint?," Adam asked. "We do," Spitfire answered, "but we should probably not do it now, its almost lunch time." "Why," he asked. "I don't think having lunch while taking a bath would be easy," Spitfire said to him. Alex giggled at this. "Come on," said Spitfire as he got what he needed, "lets draw."
They then went to the table to color while they waited. "Need some help little buddy," said Spitfire as he noticed that Adam was struggling to get any of the art supplies after he sat down. "Yes please," he said. "Let me help you with that," said Elsina as she got some cook books for Adam to sit on. "Its kinda hard to get these books under you when you're sitting silly," she said to him while he was still sitting. "Sorry," he said while getting off the chair. "You don't have to say sorry," assured Elsina, "theres nothing wrong about it." "But now I can't get up there," said Adam. "Use your wings silly," said Elsina. "Oh yeah," said Adam while he started to flap his wings. "Its okay," Elsina said, "when I was your age I was new to using my wings too." "Me too," said Spitfire while coloring. "Is that me?," she said while looking at Spitfires drawing. He nods before saying, "I want it to look beautiful just like you." Elsina blushes before getting back to the soup.
Spitfire looks over to Adam to see what he's drawing. "What are you drawing there buddy?," he asked. "Its a fishy," Adam replied back. "Hey speaking of fish," Elsina said, "could you get the fish crackers Spitfire?" "Sure," he said as he got up. "Crackers?," asked Adam. "To put in the soup," answered Spitfire, "don't ya wanna go fishing?." Yes, please," said Adam. "Maybe we can use the pizza ones," Spitfire said as he took them out. Elsina gave him a confused look before saying, "are you sure?" "Yep," he answered, "it will add some flavor to it, besides, anchovy is a topping." "Touché," Elsina said. "Pizza fish," said Adam while still working on his drawing. "Lunch will be served in a few minutes okay boys," she said while still cooking. "Okay," said Spitfire and Adam.
"Its ready boys," said Elsina, "go get your bowls and then your plates." "Can't I use my drawing as a plate?," said Spitfire. "You could," said Elsina, "but you don't want your picture to get messy do you?" "Good point," he said while he got up to follow Adam before deciding to get some crackers. "Wouldn't you want to have those after you got your food my special little man?," Elsina asked him. Spitfire stopped what he was doing and grabbed a bowl. "Besides," Elsina said, "we need to get the lake first." "Oh yeah, I forgot," said Spitfire as he held out his bowl. Elsina gave him his soup and said, "there thats better." "Thanks Elsina," said Spitfire as he put the bowl on the table before getting a plate.
Spitfire sits back down, and proceeded to get the crackers. "You wanna go fishing Adam," said Spitfire as he held the crackers. "Yes, please," said Adam. Spitfire immediately put the bag next to Adam and began to shake some crackers out, before giving his own soup some crackers. "This is how we fish," he said as he scooped up some soup and crackers into his spoon. "I want to go fishing to," said Adam as he did the same. "Looks like I have a couple of fishermen over here," said Elsina. "We're getting the fishies," said Adam. "I can see that," Elsina said, "you're doing a good job." "Thanks," said Adam before he continued eating. Looks like Spitfire found a new friend, and his new friend feels the same way.
