Flow sneered as yet another skeleton fell to bones, disintegrating into dust before the ratkin mage's advanced magic. “I still don't get why they had to send me.” She muttered, looking into the dust before pressing on. “Of all the mages on the Ironbank, surely I'm a little more qualified than to be cleaning up the mess of some apprentice necromancer.”
She certainly had an exhaustive list of achievements as an adventurer – having been in the party of groups who saved cities, destroyed demonic monstrosities and defied the fury of demigods. While she had recently retired from that life to pursue other interests it left its mark on her, from the demonic tattoo that marked her as the pet of her succubus patron, Lynn, to the flowing mane of dark hair she had cultivated from her time cursed to become a direwolf.
If they pulled you out of retirement, pet, there's likely something more within this temple than simple skeletons. Be on your guard.
Lynn's voice echoed in Flow's mind, comforting as it was familiar, like the kindling of a warm fire on a cold winter's night. She sighed. It was true, Flow was often left to her studies in her home city. Whomever had commissioned her to make this temple safe must have had their reason to request her, specifically. But the temple was safe. She had just dispatched what she believed to be the last skeleton guardian in the place, and even if there were more they would hardly be any challenge to a half decent swordsman. The thick-thighed ratkin sorcerer was just about to turn to do another sweep of the temple when something caught her eye. Red, shiny, and circled by gold, an amulet rested upon a raised pedestal at the back of the temple. All around it, gorgeous dragon themed motifs decorated the walls and floor.
“Well! At least I'll be properly compensated.” Flow grinned as she strutted up to the pedestal, casually swiping the amulet from its ancient cushion. She could feel an innate magical presence to it, but it was insignificantly faint enough that she had no issues draping the amulet around her neck. She could always have someone perform a proper identification upon it later, of course. The amulet fit neatly between the twin mounds of her bust in a way that seemed to accentuate them. “Perfect.”
For once, Lynn's voice in her head was quiet.
