as we move up from the deep dark recesses of the planet, we begin to discover lighter more playful and yet still very earth tone beauty. This beauty connects the deep inner earth with the outer world we see everyday.
Brighter then "Deep Earth" I used some of the same semi precious gems as I did before, Notably Leopard Jasper, Black Jasper. The major difference that "Subterranean" has when compared to "Deep Earth" is that in this peace i traded out the smokey quartz and yellow tiger eye for rose quarts and garnet chips. The Rose quarts lightens the piece considerably from the last "Deep Earth". The Garnet Chips are a dark brown but not fully opaque semi precious gem that has a nice subtle glow to it, further brightening the piece.
I really love how this came out. when I measured the Stringing thread I decided to fit my own neck size, so this is great because it matches my color tone where my hair and complexion is concerned. This one will not be up for sale, it will be my personal piece....I just love how it came out. I wasn't sure how i felt about the Rose Quarts at first but seeing how it came out I'm glad I made the decision to use them to brighten the piece.
also I know i said I wouldn't be able to post any of my work until I got clasps for the piece ends, but I discovered a new trick...I used a wood spring loaded cloths pin to pinch the two ends together and it obviously worked beautifully. If I make any more I will use that method to keep it mounted on the display until I i get a supply of clasps. I'm also considering doing a series of bracelets as well...but only considering right at the moment.
Also I'm looking at getting a similar but lighter beige or white stand that i can use so when i make darker pieces i can put it on a light background so that the darker colors pick up better and save the stand in this pic for when i make brighter and lighter pieces that will show better on the black background. great example, looking at this pick the black jasper and Garnet chips blend into the background of the stand too much. I might re-shoot this pick when i get a stand with a lighter background.
