Hobgoblins are dime a dozen in art, but martial goblins? That's unusual!

Goblins, including their armor, should be freakin' hilarious. They're the comic relief, right up to the moment that you find out they ate some of the NPCs and didn't grant them the dignity of killing them first.

That's a good approach :) Mine was different - goblins were freakishly off-the-wall magical in weird ways I improvised from folk-tales and legends. Even though they weren't tough, players were terrified of them because they never knew what to expect, like throwing 1-hp damage elf shot that ignored all armour, or turning to wood when you killed them.

This is a great picture, another one I'd take right to a game as an illustration :D
