Yesterday I seemed to be in the fanart mood so I drew two whole fanarts and I had the sudden urge to draw Alphys. Added Undyne because I can and I wouldn't resist to draw her almost anytime I have the chance to. <3

It's really just the aesthetics. Gender, orientation, species, and ideology are all secondary considerations compared to "The Rule of Cool." But you're right. That particular cosplay idea would be more fitting for their Underfell counterparts. A more fitting classic anime cosplay for their OG selves would be 'Demon City Shinjuku' (1988) with Alphys as Sayaka Rama and Undyne as Kyoya Izayoi.
