My Russian father for my four Russian characters that are friends with my fursona.
Alexei was born in Leningrad in November of 1947, his father being a veteran of the Second World War, and his mother also a fighter against the Nazis.
Entering the military when he was eighteen, he became a bomber pilot to the notorious Tu-22 "Blinder" in 1967 when he was twenty, flying the same bomber for years. Despite nearly being killed on four separate occasions while flying the "Blinder", no thanks to its instability in pitch, Alexei grew to respect his aircraft, to which he nicknamed "Little Bastard".
Despite his perfect military career, even earning himself the Hero of the Soviet Union in 1978 when he rescued a fellow Tu-22 pilot from a crashed plane, his true desire was to be cartoonist, something his father tried suppressing for years. Growing dissatisfied during the Brezhnev Stagflation of the 1970's, Alexei began venting his stress in his drawings, depicting high ranking Soviet Officials in comical drawings as drunks and incompetent fools, something that would later turn around to cause trouble for him.
By the spring of 1983, the situation for Alexei turned against him when his scandalous drawings were discovered by his superior officers, the KGB soon sent after Alexei and his family. Fearing for his life along with his kids, they fled from Moscow in May of 1983, boarding a flight to Poland, where they soon got on a jet that took them to the United States where Alexei formally defected and surrendered to US security at JFK airport.
After being granted asylum in late 1983, Alexei settled down and changed his name to sound "more American" adopting the last name Kennedy for his family, after reading about the assassinated President John F. Kennedy. Using his drawing skills for the best, Alexei soon got into the cartoon industry and became a instant success in his political cartoons and assistance in animated series that were made in the 1980's to 1990's.
Now at age 63, he's partially retired and enjoying his life in the United States.
The picture of Alexei seen in this picture was a portrait of him back when he was 32, taken in November 1979 after being awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union.
