Work Sketch - Alima
Well, I was at work yesterday and it was pretty slow. So, I got out some paper that needed recycling and decided to sketch a bit. I had just read an old story that someone had written about my Serpentine characters and decided that I wanted to draw Alima, the main character from that series.
She's half human, half water snake. I believe these creatures are called "naga" or "naaga" or some variation of that spelling! Normally, I'd draw her topless as unmarried girls of this species don't bother with them until they take a mate. But, as I was at work...couldn't really do that. ^^;
Alima's a tough cookie, a huntress and an athlete which very much goes against the mannerisms of her people...or, at least her mother's people. Her father's people were much like she is but on an even more aggressive scale. They're warriors and hunters and just generally like to be in some kind of fight. Her mother's people are docile and gathers and don't really hunt, but rather gather and harvest fish.
...oi! Too much info to go into in this artist's comment box. So, yeah, Alima, again

Oh, I took my nephew to the museum last year and we had a little drawing session. He drew "The Thinker" and some Roman armor. I drew random sculptures. At one point, though, he did ask me why all the men had their gollies chopped off (literally, a lot of the statues of men had their boy bits missing) and I explained that over the years, protruding things tend to fall off of statues...like arms, fingers...and boy bits ...it was a fun outing
