They are! I assumed it would be a process similar to imping, in falconry. :)

I'm not up on my falconry, you might have to explain that one.

Imping is when you repair a broken feather with a shed donor feather (either shed from that bird earlier, or from another bird or species entirely.) Usually with glue and dowel, though sometimes the donor feather shaft is drilled out, and put over the birds existing feather shaft nubs, like a sock, (Like how I figured it might work here, XD )
It doesn't hurt the bird, and the donor feather will be shed when the bird grows a replacement feather.

I remember seeing a picture of a hawk once, that had most of it's feathers on one wing repaired with parrot feathers, and it was just super cool to see this bird of prey and stealth just completely blinged out, lol.
