More from Wotan
This piece is pretty much exactly as advertised: Mostly just some more random, crusty thoughts from the scratch-pads, which were further products of the perfect storm of midlife crisis angst I've had going on the past number of months, coupled with the still ongoing COVID situation, and all the other thought processes it leads to.
The first part is mainly built around old clichés of creeping normality, frogs in boiling water, thin edges of wedges, and parables of camels' noses in tents.
The reference is vague enough that it doesn't necessarily refer to any one particular situation, but in fact can be applied to quite a few, although the original seed came from a rather annoyed observation I made one day about one particular kind of creeping normality, namely the way it seems that all-too-often 'optional' almost never stays that way. "Optional" is like the Junebug grub burrowing under the lawn, in that it's usually the larval stage of 'mandatory'.
The second part was more of an observation that came from attempting to launch into guitar practice one day, and being frustrated by constant distractions that made it almost impossible to finish so much as a single song...
Any possibilities beyond this are entirely up to the reader's own interpretation...
