I have been really digging city pop last couple years. I have long been interested in Japanese popular music (since the late 80s....*ahem*), but it really was only in the last few years that I put together that the sounds from the late 1970s and early 1980s that I really enjoyed fell under the banner of "city pop". Increased issues of compilations internationally has just raised the genre's profile.

One of the hallmarks of a lot of city pop albums is their cover art. LA was a favorite subject, whether for song topics, setting for covers, or recording the music there (or all three!). Illustrated covers have a very distinctive look, with pastels and flat shading.  jonas really has captured that style as my character Felina poses for city pop album cover.
