What I'm about to say is the absolute, hand on the bible truth. Back in September 2016, I lost one of my two cats. The following January, my vet told me of a cat that needed a home due to his owner being put into an assisted living facility. I brought the year-old cat home and my other cat, the sister to the one that died, walked up to him, sniffed him, turned and walked away. In February 2018, I lost the aforementioned sister and the following June, my next-door neighbor found a 4-week-old kitten. I adopted her, brought her home, and the surviving cat walked up to her, sniffed her, turned and walked away. I had absolutely no problems bringing cats home. I will admit to surprise at that fact, though because I know how territorial cats, including female cats, are.
You're rather fortunate. I'd have to type a soliloquy about the antics of my two feline "masters" (They'll claim I'm the pet, not the other way around) and my wife's dog.
It took the Cat's a longer time to accept one another then it did the dog. (They just think she's a retarded cat) And whuff. Every time we've tried to foster. Oh maaaaan the chaos.
I mean it shouldn't be surprising. It took my cat (2years) almost a full year to accept my wife's cat

When I brought the two cats that have passed away home as 8-week-old kittens, we had a dog that was half-pit bull and half-dalmatian. She loved to chase the ferals we had in our yard and I feared she would break a 1/4" thick steel cable leash. However, after giving Pixie and Dixie (yes, they were named after cartoon mice.) a week or two to acclimate, I decided it was now or never. I let them out of my bedroom and called them to follow me. Like any normal cat, they investigated EVERYTHING in the hallway. When Dixie got to the doorway of the hall, she locked eyes on the dog and made a beeline to her. As the little kitten neared her, Echo (the dog) started staring at her and her eyes got bigger and bigger. Finally, when Dixie was about a foot away from Echo, she raised one of her paws and glared at Echo as if she was saying, "I dare you to try me." Echo never bothered either of them after that.
You have been lucky, I had to spend a year and a half trying to get my two females to get along after I brought to elderly cat home from the shelter (couldn't leave her there after I learned she'd been abandoned and no one wanted to adopt her) There were wounds and conflicts in the process but they tolerate each other now.
