we don't know much about Loona's backstory but i find it pretty safe to assume that her outward aggression is masking internal vulnerabilities. more than likely, a lot of it is whatever got her put into the foster system, and part of it is her feeling like she had to "toughen up" once in the system. nice by default, but made "mean" out of a survivalist mindset. the end result is someone who will, in one minute, grab a live human using their fangs and rip the human to death, and then the next minute, become soft and awkward toward a crush. someone who will angrily brush off her adoptive dad, and then smile at him when hidden behind her phone.
