Roian Species Development π¦π¦π π¦ π
Concept art for my comic world, showing how each of the sapient Roian species (called Olgeds) grow and age. Also shows common afflictions and injuries they get in old age...
~ ~ ~
On planet Roia, reproduction occurs in the mouth and resembles a kiss. The female donates egg cells to the male. The oesophagus seals the path to the stomach so the egg can reach the egg sac. Here, it's fertilised and grows a shell.
The eggs are laid through the mouth as well.
The Zaw-afikh shows two variants because showing ancestral (Ikai'kap) traits a very common mutation for them. Like Ikai'kap in childhood, some Zaws hatch without legs, but unlike them, they never grow legs in adulthood and end up looking snake-like.
The old aged portraits also show common injuries and ailments that befall them with the decades:
- Cipocatli often have respiratory/circulatory conditions and complications as a result of their genetic predisposition and rather unhealthy diet tendencies. The one here is shown with a chest implant to help with that.
- Ikai'kap lungs often wear out at old age and they have to rely on water collars to breathe on land.
- Orthontis' constant jumping in taking off and running tends to wear their legs down sooner or later, not to mention common accidents that result in injury or being crippled. Luckily they can get prosthetics for such cases.
- PattΓ€der often break their horns/antlers and unlike earthen animals, they don't regrow them.
