For Fursuit Friday I wanted to do something a little different and show my appreciation to my friends who helped make one of my dreams come true.
Ever since I joined the furry fandom I have always had a strong desire to bring my character to life, which isn’t super surprising since that's basically what this fandom is based on. So backtracking many moons I was working on getting my character made, after working every shift I could take to make it a possibility when I was 15 - 16 I came across a decision that I needed to make. Do I buy a full suit now and possibly grow out of it or do I save a little bit of money and partial for the time being. I decided to go with the latter which led to lots of wonderful and exciting years of my life. Though as I got older and to the point that I stopped growing little things here and there kept getting in the way of finishing up the rest of the character, which was the body. Between starting a company with friends, or just not having the time I used to, it's something that never became a reality. I'm 25 now and honestly if I didn't pull myself together and ask for some help I would have never gotten it done.
After getting in contact with a few wonderful friends “namely Ino, Skye, and Aiko.” I got the opportunity to make this happen. Instead of fully just commissioning someone to make the body I wanted to be a major part of the process / be the one to do it, I just needed guidance. So I purchased suggested furs and planned dates to start working on it that worked with everyone. I finally got to make my dream come true.
Now this is the part I have been meaning to get at. I just wanted to add some extra context first.
Ino, thank you so much for taking the time to go through all the intricacies of creating a pattern from a duct tape dummy. You were always super kind and patient with me whenever I had a question that came up. You legit have one of the kindest hearts of anyone I know and I feel so lucky that you were willing to give me so much of your time when you have so much going on.
Skye, and Aiko, you guys stepped in and really helped me out last minute before BLFC from best practices when it comes to translation of the pattern into fur, all the way to sewing all the last pieces. Your hospitality and wonderful conversation in your home was a joy and it means so much to me that you were willing to help especially after a move and finishing up so much work. Also I can't stop listening to Phonk now, so thanks Aiko for that XD
There is no way I would have been able to put this together before my first con since the pandemic restrictions over the past couple years without you guys. I don't think any of you know how much this experience meant to me and will continue to mean to me every time I get to put my character on and have the opportunity to bring him to life because of you all. There is so much more I want to say but before it gets too sappy I’ll conclude it here. Thank you so, so much, all of you.
