It seems that, although
Virmir was able to reflect Mara's transformation spell, he didn't count on a few basic elements of physics.
1. Hippos are heavier than snow leopards.
2. Magic brooms can only lift so much weight.
3. What goes up must come down.
4. Mara's position and velocity relative to himself.
As a result, Virmir is having some . . . issues.
I guess nobody told him that on Halloween, you're supposed to decorate with pumpkins and not squash.
