They are master mages, though it comes at the cost of a lot of other things such as being truly self sufficient in regards to things like food. Learning magic is also very dangerous, labor intensive, and the gains arent necessarily the perfectly practical so this community is kinda the only one of it's kind. Many of their younglings likely die each year from mana meltdowns or magic related accidents
So they aren't the best survivors and generally the broncens have them beat there in regards to getting enough food and being self sustaining communities.
But they've built up a relationship with the surrounding Broncen societies and, through those networks have built up a sustainable way of life. Often trading magic services for food from the surrounding communities.

So they are masters of magic, but very very keyholed into that at the expense of other important skills like fishing, foraging, building, etc.
